As referred to above, the Collie needs daily stimulation and Collie dogs can live outdoors when the climate is cool, but they are the happiest sleeping inside with its family. Grooming a Collie requires a good brushing once or twice per week, with the rough-coated Collie a bit more often.

The average lifespan of the Collie dog is nearly ten years, with healthy Collies living up to 12 to 13 calendar years at times. There are no great health worries and lesser issues that may spring up comprise demodicosis, PRA, dermatomyositis, and CEA.
