Non Shedding Dog Breeds

Numerous people would love to own a pet dog, but are wary of the possible disorder that shed dog hair can cause in their homes. These individuals want a dog that does not shed to be their friend. Sadly there is no such thing as a dog that doesn’t shed at all. All hounds will shed and restore at least some of their hair, exactly like people do. There are some breeds that shed far less than others, and selecting one of these breeds can keep the shedding mess to a minimum.

Airedale Terrier:

The Airedale terrier is a great terrier with a rough coat that sheds very little. These dogs can be good with youngsters, but such socialisation needs to start early in the dog’s life. They may play too harshly for small children. These are faithful and trainable dogs, but are also very naturally inquisitive and not freely coaxed away from something that captures their curiosity. The Airedale generally grows to about 22-24 inches in height and a weight of 50-65 pounds.

Cockapoo:

The Cockapoo is reminiscent of the Poodle, particularly in the face. It has a short, curly coat and does not shed a lot but does need above average grooming. It is in fact a blend between the American Cocker Spaniel and the Poodle, thus its look and name (Cocker + Poodle = Cockapoo). These dogs are very amiable, faithful, and joyful. They are good with youngsters and other hounds and are characteristically very easy to train.

The Italian Greyhound is a miniature Greyhound. The body style of this hound is almost exactly like that of his running cousins, but in a serviceable, small size. These hounds are kind and compliant. They become very emotionally bound to their people. They are compliant and easy to train, but given to mischief, and they know when they have been disobedient. They get along well with youngsters – if the kids are well behaved. If the kids are intense and boisterous, the dog will be too. It is best in a tranquil home. The coat of the Italian Greyhound is succinct and lustrous and they don’t shed greatly at all.

Miniature Poodle

The Miniature Poodle is not truly a species all to itself, but one of the trio of AKC acknowledged sizes of Poodles. Like all Poodles, they shed very little, but their short, curly coats require substantial grooming. They are very clever, joyful, and quite trainable. They usually get along with youngsters, but they can be touchy or nervous around exuberant kids. They easily merge with a household and feel that they have to be a part of all family pursuits. They will frequently act as though they’ve been slighted if not incorporated in household pursuits.
